When You Have Nothing to Lose

When I was writing the previous post I was thinking about the almost unbearable stress I was under before I got fired in 2010. Actually getting fired was such a relief and in many ways the best thing that could have happened. I think sometimes when you’re under stress it’s because you can’t let go of a bad situation. Maybe it’s because you can’t imagine a different situation, or maybe it’s just that you prefer the devil you know (even though it may be killing you). I think sometimes you have to get to the point where you have nothing left to lose to have the freedom to let go of the defective present and take a risk on a different future. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could have that sense of freedom without all the pain and suffering?
