Hello world!

Obviously there is a lot more to a person than an affliction. Nevertheless, this blog is mainly about living with bipolar. I will talk about anything else that comes to mind, too. I do also realise that I’m not an authority on anything (including being bipolar).

Here are some basic statistics: I’m a 42 year-old gay male. I’m legally married to a wonderful guy and we have a dog and a house and all that. I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I vote Liberal (that’s a Canadian political party). I’m not religious and I’m not a fan of non-conventional medicine. I am a fan of science fiction.

I’m a computer programmer and I was employed from 1993 to 2010 with a break in 2001. I lost my job in March and now I’m looking for work. As you might guess having bipolar complicates working but my job reviews have mostly been positive. I’ve worked for four employers since I got out of school. Two were extremely supportive when times were tough, and two were not (at all).

Today my meds are working great. I’m going to write a post about it. Plus my mood is up (but not too up) and I’m sending out resumes and getting interviews.
